As I already mentioned, I always found it quite frustrating when I was busy constructing my virtual-synthesizers for months, thinking for a long time how I should set up the next album compositionally and rhythmically, etc., only to get banal questions in interviews, or worse, only about the lyrics, even if I don't even write my own lyrics. So I assume that the things I have to tell are not very mainstream and boring for not musicians or synthesizer freaks, but I'll try anyway
In principle, I always think about a musical concept for each album. I decide what aspect to focus on and how I structure the songs for the next album. On the last album "Nullify" I decided to use a continuous, rasping bass line for all songs (except for "The Wheel"), which forms the harmonic foundation of the songs, but that does not have any rhythm information. Although I was very satisfied with the last decision, I want to change that with the next album and give the bass track again a rhythm formation that supports the "drums" more.
While working on the new song, it became clear to me (thanks to outside inspiration) that the bass lines with rather short bass tones no longer produced the "dirt" like on the last album and that the sound therefore sounded a bit more nice and sterile. In order to give the songs a more industrial feeling again, I decided yesterday to add a separate, deep, scraping track to the rhythmic bass lines, which also gives the songs more fullness. This is a momentary state that can change, but currently I'm very at peace with this decision.
