It's been a long, difficult, painful birth with much blood and suffering, but finally it's done. The baby is alive, healthy and beautiful!
I had actually started song 7 two months ago when I couldn't get any further with song 6. At that time, I wanted to be as experimental as possible and combine as many different weird sounds as possible in order to break with my musical routine and bring a little more creative chaos into my head.
As I continued to work on the song, I discarded more and more of the old weird sounds and replaced them with more melancholic harmonies. With each passing day, a song that was originally difficult to access became an increasingly dreamy and melancholic song. On Sunday I was ready to compose a second part, which crowned the dreaminess.
But already when composing the first part, I was so inspired that I came up with two vocal melodies for this part, which was supplemented by a third vocal melody in the second part. I think for the first time in the history of Ice Ages I packed 3 different vocal melodies in one song and not just two.
