As you may have noticed, this time it took a lot longer to finish the song. The reason for this delay was a little musical "crisis" I had during this time. I was able to start the new song extremely quickly and was quickly satisfied with it, but I soon realized that it didn't really bring anything new. It was more like "assembly line work" - like goods that had no real character. The song basically sounded like a below-average summoning song with many (synth) strings, one of the main sounds was more reminiscent of a cembalo on a DVKE album, and only the machine drums reminded of Ice Ages. As I got more and more doubts, I played the song to friends who spontaneously said it wouldn't really fit on an Ice Ages album.
So I started restructuring the song, giving the smooth layers a little more rhythmic structure, and using a little more experimental sounds. As I got deeper and deeper into this work, the old "flow" came back and new melodies really shot out of me. In a very short time, I had enriched the song with 50% more melodies and created something completely different from the original framework. It got a more "cosmic" character and reminds me a bit of the song "Eternal sleep" from the Ice Ages debut album, only with a much more modern sound and more complex song structure.
